You can run a zetec on carbs using a ESC module/loom from a fiesta/escort

You get a nice power gain from a zetec and pretty cheap to build

You can get a running 2.0 Mondingo for a couple of hundred, everything you need! Bar the sump and flywheel.

Get that as a spare or build that bottom end to suit a zetec turbo incase a 2.0 on carbs ain't powerful enough

i was thinking of doing a 2.1 turbo but a 2.0 should be ok in it as there is no weight in a mk2 lol

Sometimes you can't help it as a lot of the pistons you get on a budget are suited for a bigger bore so once you over bore to suite it ends up as a 2.1

As above, if you go forged internals you'll end up being nearer 2.1 anyway after machining.

I didn't think you wanted to bother with aftermarket ecu though?

Indeed, C20let pistons is a tried and tested route but still need plenty of machining doing.

I've got Z20 LET pistons for sale as I was building a zetec turbo and the only machining you need to do is an overbore, and to machine the piston to suite the zetec small end unless you feel like machining both piston and rod to suite 22mm cosworth small end

If you want basic, just buy an ST170 bottom end, black top head with ST170 valve springs, FRS inlet and exhaust inc turbo and management to suit.

An ST170 bottom end will just about do 350bhp, without a good stiff chassis it'll pull a mk2 apart lol.
