Hand Built MK1 Escort Works replica
Just finished building this. I have put tons of detail into this inc, competition boot space, competition interior, detailed hand made Pinto engine, detailed chassis with Bilsteins and sump guard !!
Lots of nice little touches too, like IMP sidelights, a set of real metal keys in the ignition, real steel bonnet pins (drilled in, not just stuck on the top), works style alcantara dual pod dash with trip computer !!! one off decals printed myself. Tons and tons of other touches I haven't mentioned.
Looks awesome on display.
But my passion is just the build process, so once they are done they are up for sale !!!

I've not done one, but I'm sure I could, I know someone that has done one and it was sold on Ebay recently.

I got some nice builds planned. RSR Escort, 1700T and a few other things.
But I also have lots of commission jobs to complete, inc a Crayford Capri, Crayford MK1 Tina, another MK1 Cortina replica, P100 pick up and lots of other things mounting up !!!! From this thread looks like, I might be adding an XR4i to that list !!!
Used to make a lot of models as a boy with my brother but used to be mainly war orianted,
I used to build a lot of bburago models to bit later in life,
Making lots of diarama style racing scenes and things,
But when split with the ex she chucked over 100 models
Been collecting a few ford 1:43 scale lately, but do fancy a 1:18 4i

Making your own decals is so simple. buy waterslide paper, 2 types inkjet or laser depending on your printer (they will not work if not correct type). I use a mixture of MS Paint, Adobe Illustrator and MS Word to do the artwork.
Sometimes it is simply a matter of finding the correct image from 'tinternet and resizing it and sometimes more difficult like the Mexico decals which are from scratch in Illustrator. You can resize images in MS Word in CM and without losing any of the resolution.
Once printed give them a protective layer of acrylic lacquer before applying them or the print will come off when you soak them !!! If you have painted the car, apply the decals before clear and just go over them as normal, which will seal them in.
If you are just applying them to a pre painted model, then apply them and either use "Humbrol decal fix" or similar or use some thinned down 1k lacquer and a soft brush to seal them.
Good luck.
Thanks mate, I do try and shove in as much detail as I can as it does make a lot of difference to the end result.
