I'm selling my escort rs turbo after owning it for 4 years.
Good points
Engine
Excellent engine, no noises (previous owner said it was rebuilt) and recently set up at Jano at oddkiddcreations, running 170 bhp at 1 bar of boost.
Recently serviced (using millers 10w50 fully synthetic oil). It has:
Piper cam and piper pulley, new turbo fitted, Ahmed bayoo chipped ecu, baileys oil tank, baileys header tank, fully samco hose kit, Collins dump valve, k & n cone filter, clear cambelt cover, new Motorsport leads, new airtec double capacity intercooler, recent clutch, new starter motor and battery.
Chassis
All welding was done last year (usual rust areas under car) and car was fully undersealed. It comes with 1 yrs mot, it needed nothing for its mot this year. The battery tray, fuse box area and tailgate are very good,. The car has:
Full koni suspension kit, recent lower arms and track rod ends, recent front and rear wheel bearings, recent drilled and grooved brake discs and pads, the front end is completely poly bushed including exhaust mounts, recent tracking and car drives spot on, very tight.
Fully stainless steel mongoose exhaust.
5 oz alloys in black with 3 new 195/45/16 tyres, matching centre caps and stickers.
Has boost gauge nicely fitted where the fuel computer should be (it never worked!) and volts, vacuum and water temperature gauge fitted and all wired up. Although the temperature gauge needs the correct sensor fitted which comes with the car.
It comes with a cobra alarm system that operates the central locking, immobiliser and has a tracker fitted (new owner will need to register).
Bad points
The bonnet went up on the previous owner so has some small ripples on each wing. There is a spot of rust around the sunroof and on the wings - nothing serious.
Car is taxed to feb 2014. Mot to end of August 2014

Sounds to me like your linkage needs adjusting, try slackening the pinchbolt and pushing the linkage forward to give you more purchase forward, the gears will be there somewhere I'm sure!!!!
Also, you could prove its the linkage by manually selecting first on the box with the linkage disconnected and see if its there,do the same with third and fifth, you don't need to drive it,just let the clutch up and see if it bites. Rules the box out then.
