Default What are these driveshafts for..

Found these in a cupboard in the garage, freshly powder coated years ago and was under the impression I could swap these out with the ones off the car.. seems not!
Anyone any idea what they are for, series one maybe? looks like they take a different type of cv joint to my 1990 series 2

I'm fairly sure they came off an rs turbo gear box so maybe the un tapered ends would fit into the inner cv joints but they look like they accept a rounded cir clip as as opposed the flat sided ones, weird!

Ones for an XR(non ABS) and the other is for a S2 RS, the ABS belt wraps round the inner side of the driveshafts.
