Default White Powder on Garden Stone - Help

Hi,

Its a bit of a silly question but I thought I might be able to find some help here. In my garden where I park my car it has stones laid but they have that white powder stuff on them so everytime i park up it covers my tyres in white powder Does anyone know if there is anything I can get to get rid of this white stuff off the stones? They have been in the garden for a couple of years now and no mattter how much rain goes on them when it drives its still there .

Cheers
Dan

make up a solution of UPVA glue and water (1 part UPVA to 12 parts water) and apply with a watering can on a sunny day so they dry out in the day. The driveway at my old house had the same problem and 2 good applications completely sorted it. The job needs doing maybe twice a year to keep on top of it.

I asked a gardener at Chatsworth House as their stone drive looked like it was the same material as mine and thats what he advised me to do and it worked. Its got to be a nice warm sunny day to do it and keep all pets off till its dry.

it is efferescence(spll)...only way to rid it is to brush it off dry. Wetting it makes it worse. Never heard of the upva idea but it does sound good, or use a silicone sealant or paving sealer available form diy stores.
