Mk4 Mondeo 2.5t Tit x 07 plate
Hey,
I'm getting a car this week, got about 6k to spend, finally get to say goodbye to my 1.3 toyota starlet!!
I've basically narrowed down my search to 3 cars. Mk4 Mondeo 2.5l tit x, the mondeo 2.2 tdci 155 st and the mk2 octavia vrs.
I really like the idea of the st diesel but frankly i've been a bit scared off by the amount of people that seem to have something go wrong with modern diesels.
Today I went and test drove a Mk4 Mondeo Tit x 07 plate as seen below:

Really liked the look of it, its interior its really nice and it drives atm its at the top of my list. However, i'm going to try and find a st and a vrs tomorrow to see what they're like.
Just wondered if anyone had any opinions on which would be the better car. I start a new job in sept and so will be doing about 15k miles a year. I know petrol is gonna be expensive for the 2.5 but I'm prepared to pay it if that's the car I want
Finally, would you say 6k is a good price for that 2.5 or would you try and knock them down a bit? It seemed to be in great condition and has had 3 owners. If i go back to have another look is there anything in particular i need to look for?
Sorry for such a long first post!
Chris

Great car, good price. They command less than the diesel because of the MPG. But if you can stomach the costs (low to mid 20s) they're an excellent car. As good as the ST is, the Mk4 is a better all-rounder. The VRS is a great car too but (although i'm biased) the Mondeo would get my vote.
As it's a Focus ST engine, you can do pretty much the same mods and get plenty of power out of them.
