hi mate
just wondering if you ever figured out that the problem was with this?
I seem to be having the same problem in my 2008 Focus TDCi

Just recently had a frustrating clunk from the front of my fiesta when pulling away and on lift-off.

I saw some chat on an Impreza forum about it coming from driveshaft hub nuts being loose, and sure enough when I checked mine was it turned very easily (I had the driveshaft replaced at a garage last year).
So I tightened it to a guess of 200Nm which was about 1/2 a turn or more and the clunking is now gone!

Just thought I'd give it as an idea.... it's an easy thing to check if you already have the big socket for the nut.
