Default Which spray gun?

Looking to respray my rocker covers never sprayed with a gun before only an aerosol, I will be using thinned hammerite hammered blue (to match the block) I had painted them with a brush but I'm not happy with the brushed results.

Any tips on which type of gun to go for?

Regards
Matt

If your not planning on painting a lot just get a cheap mini gun off ebay they are only about £10, the bergon ones get a reasonable review

Well I had looked at this one as the reviews seemed good, but having not used one before not sure if it would be suitable for what I wanted to do with it

That will be perfect for what your doing, gravity fed and small tip, run it around 28 -30 psi

and I find with hammerite, 2k thinners worked the best.

have you not been to your local paint shop and had the base coat mixed up? it'll be a more durable finish than hammerite

Well that's the gun I got in the end, i had already painted the covers with a brush so I've just rubbed it back, I was told that the only thinners you can use with hammerite is hammerite thinners, but ill take any advice as I've never sprayed anything before, how can I tell what pressure the gun is spraying at?

Your compressor should have a gauge on the regulator and you can get a cheap mini gauge to fit on the base of your gun between the airline (also available from machine mart for around £7) and you can fine tune it from there.

I've only ever used 2k thinners with hammerite when shooting through a gun and its been fine. I painted my abs block using hammerite, pics are on my resto thread

What ratio did you thin the hammerite down to?

Think it was aroun 60/40, you'll know when you mix it, judge it with a mixing stick

Sprayed my engine bay on my rs1600 with hammerite the smooth one came out great but just build up the coats gradually give it time to dry off inbetween coats .
