Can I start by saying hi all I am new here and am just wondering if anyone can help me I have a mk6 escort van project which I have just bought a s2 rst engine to put in her and am looking for a LSD gearbox or advice on which route to go down for a gearbox any advice is much welcome cheers

 

have a s2 lsd fitted in your gearbox, goes straight in afaik

to be fair gearboxes are luck of the draw and also how you treat them, the ib5 in your van is a bit stronger than the bc box in the rs but your diesel ratios might not be best suited to the erst engine.

I'm about to put my mk4 turbo cab on the rd with a 2.0 16v turbo conversion on a standard erst box, lets see how that survives lol

 

I did hear that the ib5 was a stronger box but wasn't sure and yeah your right the gear ratio will not be best suited lol I will have to try it and see what happens lol

Pick up a 1.3 Ka box for it's ratio's, a RST box for it's LSD then either assemble them all into your diesel casing yourself or get someone else to.
This gives you the slightly stronger IB5, with nice ratio's (almost identical to original RST) and an LSD.
