did anyone see/know a dark coloured saph 4x4 yesterday running at classic ford? was consistently doing mid elevens and mid 120's all day till something happened. Heard a rumour it was running a borg warner? was really impressed with this car and hope what ever was up is an easy fix.

Any info chaps?

 

I'm sure there was a thread about it after Central Day? Had a dented wing or something and a Mark Shead engine/Borg Warner turbo combo?

 

Seen a vid on fb today launched then a big clunk maybe box or diff related

 

Think i saw it being towed out as i was leaving, sounded like the diff was foocked, all banging grinding and crunching

 

Its a smokestone blue K reg. I was talking to him at central day and yes it's a mad car on borgwarner turbo. I think he said was running 2.2bar by 2.5-3k and was also running 1bar anti lag I was in my car waiting for strip and he was a couple of cars in front when it broke. Think it ate a diff or gearbox as he launched and didn't get far. He tried to move it under its own steam but it didnt sound happy

 

Impressive car this be good to see some info on it's spec.
The White 4x4 standard looking series 2 turbo was shifting to doing mid 11's with 450hp I believe, very impressive .

 

It was great seeing it do 11's every run.

But the launch of the day for me was a silver/grey escort cosworth, I didn't even pay attention to the time it got, he fuckin launched it! Squated like a 2am kebab bird having piss up an alley, best launch I've seen from an Escos in years.

 

That saff was mental, sounded sweet. My fave launch was the guy who went backwards

 

My favourite launch from a Cossie was wenny, it's hard to take in how fast his mk3 takes off and constant 9's all day!

 

 

He snapped a front driveshaft, It has a Oppliner LongBox with short gear ratio.

sounds like an easy fix then? was really impressed with that car if im honest, takes a fair bit to get a 4x4 saph to do them times, fair play to all involved.

spent 10am-5pm on the strip, didn't get chance to look at 1 car or walk around this year lol
loved every minute of it thou & came home well happy
be nice to get it in the 10's as plenty of room for improvement if it all falls rite on a single run

 

Defo agree.Ive seen Wenny break a few gearboxes over the years.

 

We were scratching our heads when we saw the last half of your run and then the time thinking is it a zetec turbo? big power cvh? then when you came back round we saw you launch it, then the cat was out the bag so to speak lol. Great runs mate

 

yer well happy with it & it got lots of interest that I wasn't expecting & even been made an offer to sell the car...........
