Had a similar problem when I rebuilt mine.Try taking off the air filter housing so you can see the flap on the fuel metering unit.Get someone to turn the engine over while you gently press down on the flap.

I remember some one having trouble with s1 before and they'd got ecu and engine ecu plugs wrong way round.

the car has run with the wiring as it is but just not very well as not getting fuel to every injector

now not getting fuel to any of them apart from the one underneath the inlet manifold
trys to start then nothing

with the pipes loose on metering unit and on injectors theres nothing
but if you undo the pipe feeding the unit and feeding the 5th injector the fuel pi$$es everywhere

CONFUSED!!!!!!!!

Got mine to run for a bit but then died, wouldn't start again.Took it to a tuner (JAMSPORT)and he got it running and starting first time every time.Adjusted the metering unit and set it up properly. My advice would be take it too an expert as the metering units on these can drive you crazy.

Hello,

just thought id drop in a quick note too say i had exactly the same problem with my S1 after a rebuild and it drove me nuts !

In the end it fired up for me ..from memory i spent alot of time loosing banjos ( to try and bleed out any air ) and getting a mate to press the flap down etc. Don't give up ..although it is annoying.

Few things to consider that MAY help..

- Make sure all the vacuum pipes are on and tight..i've learnt that the MFI system HATES leaks

- Take the plugs out and spin it over just in case the engine is flooded

Good news is once it starts it should be fine ive left mine for a while now so im hoping itll be ok lol

let me us know how you get on ?

Good luck , pete

Nuts is not the word
If this car was insured I would of burnt it by now.

Spoke to Jamie at Jamsport today he gave me a few pointers I will try all suggested tips when I next have a play
Failing that it will be a trip to Jamie himself as I am now bald

can't offer advise but may also be worth popping on to www.seriesoneturbo.co.uk as there are endless people that have stripped and built S1's on there and will have encounted every issue under the sun.

Plus it is a must website for every S1 / mk3 escort owner and a good community, was a godsend when I had mine.
