Do you mean it's not chattering as much? (nothin to do with waste gate BTW lol)

Or do you mean that the noise on boost isn't as loud anymore?

well both tbh, I used to get a huge air induction noise on boost then a loud chatter on lift off.

now I get a supercharger whine for a few seconds low down & a quieter chatter

Well, it has got a different front end on the turbo mate.. And that's the bit that makes the chattery noise. So probably will sound different.

And that chatter is air backing up because you dont have sufficient dump valve. It may sound good, but isnt always healthy for the turbocharger ( although may also do no harm to some )

A ported shroud will always run quieter in this respect, as it has more air passages for the air to escape back out under such circumstances.

That chatter noise is from air backing up in the inlet and being forced back through the compressor, which is exactly the same as surge. Except surge happens with the throttle open. Hence why you're not getting the same noise with an anti surge compressor housing.
