Default New here! ST24 Replica

Hey all, new to the site.

Recently bought a mondeo mk2 1.8lx in juice green.

Would have loved to go straight for the st24 although mrs couldnt get insured on it. Plus its her daily driver so probably wise to stick with the 1.8

I have an st24 kit coming freshly sprayed including morettes.

Interior I can sort for £50.00

Now, question is what wheels? I love the cosworth wheels. But will these suit the car ok?

Has anyone got any pics of them on an st24?
Or pictures/threads from a replica st24?

Also, I dont want it lowered drastically with it being used for the kids school run etc.. although do st springs/shocks make much of a difference to height??

Any help/advice appreciated. I'll pop some pics up soon.

Thanks

I would go with the st24 wheels if you dont want to lower the car too much.

Thanks lads.

Was quite tempted to go with the st wheels. Although I love the cosworth's.

Will these not look right with standard st springs? I am right in thinking the st springs are lower than standard lx springs aren't I?

Welcome to the site mate.

St24's as standard look high, so getting st springs would be a waste of money, in my opinion anyway

I agree ST's sit quite high as standard , I'd just lower it now and have done with it

This was my old ST24 with standard rims and some Fox alloys. The ST24 does sit rather high, but the ride was really nice.

You could always get a set of st200 wheels for it.

what about the old RS7 soft spoke wheels.. I nearly got a set for my ST24 but never got them in the end so no pics.

when / if you lower it make sure you do the front 10mm more than the back or else it will sit funny.. alot of 'lowering spring' kits for the Mk2 mondeo come with -40mm rear and -50mm front..

HTH..

Welcome along mate.

Maybe the Si wheels that look a bit similar to cosworths?
Looked fine on my old RS kitted Mondy.

Why not go for a set of st200 wheels they can be got quite cheap, Cosworth wheels have the wrong offset and look wrong as I fitted a set to a standard mondeo once and they stuck out too far

Cheers Matthew

I was going to suggest the standard ST24 alloys but those Fox alloys look good on it so i'd now suggest something along those lines.

Any idea what sort of price range we'd be looking at on these?
And can these be fitted with standard shocks?

As for the st200 wheels. I like them, although I'd want them sprayed up. Graphite grey maybe?
Wheels will be one of the last things I do anyway so I have plenty of time to make my mind up on that. Very picky when it comes to wheels.

Cheers for all the replies lads. Appreciate it.

Now, the next question. Once its had the st kit etc.. fitted. I may look into a bit of tuning.
Is there much that can be done to the 1.8 without ridiculous expense?

I will be popping a different exhaust on regardless, so would it be worth while with the st manifold + st exhaust?

Then maybe the bigger throttle body off 2.0? Along with cams etc...? (does this require different ECU?)

Is this reasonable and will I see much improvement do you think?

Hey cheers mate.
Cracking motors, myself and family members have owned a few. Anything from the 1.8 petrol and diesel to the st24. All round good motors.

Got another baby on the way and its perfect for space and comfort so happy days. Just needs to look a little fancier hence the upgrade.

Lovely motor you got there. Dont see many euro style mondeos about.
How have you got your exhaust? Is is standard and hidden behind bumper?
Also any more pics? Have you done the interior or any engine mods?

Thanks mate, i also have another baby on the way

Yes, the exhaust is a standard one with is modified to be hidden away behind the bumper, the exhaust holes in the rearbumper are cleaned.
Don't have engine mods done beside replacing the standard airbox with a open air filter. For the interior painted some parts other smaller steering wheel with airbag to and some sporty seats.

Have found a picture from the back, the exhaust not showing and cleaned parts.

Looks nice! Are those aftermarket rear lights or did you make the indicator part clear yourself?

didn't notice much difference TBH.. may have been a little harsher as the shocks are working out of their normal range of movement but it was never enough to be bothered about IMO..

As for the springs and schoks, it's on a full Patec sport kit together with bumpstops to scrape less

But i don't think they longer exist

And for the rearlights, they don't make them anymore.

Hope this helps

Found a picture from the interior, seats not visible but together with the things you do see, that's all i've done inside.

Some painting, new smaller steering wheel with airbag, some chroom and sparco look a like seats.

Here you go
