Default Advice please

Today i got round to setting the base idle on my bt escort cosworth because it hasnt been right since i got it.

Heres what i did

1. Set the tps to 0.35v
2. My car has a L8 ecu so i did 5 turns anticlock wise to zero it and the 1.5 turns clock wise.
3. Let the car warm up so it would run without the iscv connected and then i adjusted it to 900rpm,then even with the iscv reconnected it stayed at 900rpm.

Great i thought ive sorted it,then i turned it off and left it for 30 mins to have a and on re starting it it roared in to life and revved to 3000rpm and stuck there!

I know i need to take it to a pro but id like to get it near enough myself.

Any ideas

Spec is grey injectors/gt28/twin pumps/L8 scs mapped

the second time you started it did you unplug the iscv to see if it went back down to around the 900rpm?

There are two guises of the L8, early ones were known as 'red tops'these use the mixture adjustment, whereas later 'green tops' have CL, which you need as you have a cat, unless it's been removed, these use CL for mixture adjustment.

You really need to get the CO checked, although there is a 'global reset', I can't see how you can ever do this without monitoring the emissions, expecially with remaps etc, it sounds like this may be too lean, it's also very dangerous to mess with this as it subtracts a percentage from the fuel map, so it can end up with it running lean!
