Default Chip or Mapped-- That is the question

What would be there best option to go for on...................lets say for instance...........uuummmmmm.......... 2.5 Diesel Turbo Range Rover

Just thinking what will be best out of the 2 options for me.

I Know that if you have a BIG BHP Cossie.Evo/Performance car then Mapping it is DEFFO what to do.

BUT

What about just to gain some power/torque/ drivability and MPG on a diesel??????

What are the pro's and Con's of each option??

Well I think the differences are these.

If you put a straight chip in it, you will obviously gain, as the chip is specific to the model.

If you have it live mapped, it will be specific to that car.

In fact, why am I telling you this? Surely you should know that by now

Great article in last weeks Autocar... because diesels are more economical and the engiens are now great to drive they are becoming sooo sort after in the second hand market that you SAVE money by getting the equivilent petrol car!!!!

This is because the Diesels are in much more demand therefore prices are that much higher and you only make up the difference after about 5 years with the cheaper fuel consumption!!!

So FOOOOOOK diesels!!!!!

I have been told by Lady Muck to stop spending money on cars

Looks like the 22's will have to be "A mate at work has asked me to look after them for him"

Tiff,

Get that piece of shit I mean Range Rover up to Stu and get him to LIVE map the fooker!!!

Considering the negliable difference in price, it's worth for the piece of mind that you are getting exactly what you tell Stu you want with the use variables that you are happy with.

Kenny even spends the time with you explaining what everything does and means, and explains the pitfalls of doing a against b.

I was more than happy with my power which was more than other "plug in" chips were claiming!

Tiff

As i said on MSN mate, you wont be dissapointed......

Get the ecu out and send it down, you can have it on a trial period for a week or so to test it out, if you like it you can pay up the arranged discounted price or i'll put it back to std at no cost to you

We list up to 2001 for the 4.6, gives a bhp increase of 12-15 bhp,
much improved drivability through the midrange is normally acheived on these big old beasts

i have hads some strange cars remapped - simply because the results speak for themselves - ok im very good friend with MSD but i dont get things for free , business costs as you well know tiff , my latest car - seat ibiza 1.2 3 cylinder - ( just to get rid of the wifes peugeot !!) not the fastest thing being small cc and 3 cylinder , rung kenny - what can you do - bring it down , ecu out - remapped - and live to suit my car, told him i didnt want it to use super unleaded - its not fookin sports car ffs - so he sorts it to what i want - car did and extra 5mpg on long run and has so much more bottem end power , its all about driveability on our road cars so any money spent less than £500 is all abonus as we would soon make it back in fuel costs the miles we do

i will be getting a diesel version soon , and it will be going in for the remap - there is no if or buts , i get a new car - phone call , can you do anything for it ? = yes - off it goes

as for the range rover - ive seen the differance they make - make the trip my freind
