Default Help needed! Zetec turbo sump?

Just tried to change the sump on my 2.0 turbo build from the early Zetec sump (1 piece), to the later 2 piece set up, an it won't go! So cut of the extra threaded part off the main studs that the baffle plate bolts to, thinkin that was the problem, an still won't fit? Anybody fitted a blacktop sump to a silvertop that can give me a clue??

Cheers!

The windage tray is incorporated in the upper part of the blacktop sump, I've heard of people fitting silvertop sumps to blacktop engines but not the other way around?

Be just my luck that! I thought the windage tray was integral on the blacktop upper, that's why I cut the silvertop main stud threads off thinkin that's all that was stopping it fittin! Just been tryin to find some info on ere but can't! Gotta be a way!!!

Nightmare! Cheers anyway!

I've had it done on mine. Wish I had pics for you, sure there is quite a bit of the upper part cut out so it clears the main bearing caps. I'll see if I can get some pics.

It looks like its hitting the main cap bolts? So won't sit flush on the block?

That would be a big help! Jus seems like the main cap bolt heads are too big? But can't use blacktop ones as the bolts are smaller, unless i have to use blacktop main caps, and then the blacktop main studs, but that would be a pain right now!

Right I can't seem to find the pics, but as far as I can remember the top part of the sump has 4 "fin" kinda thin parts of metal running bewtween both sides?

I remember these having to be almost fully cut out so that it fits over the standard silvertop main caps etc. Sorry I can't explain it any better.

Ah yeah I kno what fins you mean! An they are where it seems to be catching? So basically trim them right down with the angle grinder an that's that?

Aye, trim them right down and keep test fitting it. Obviosuly give it a good wash to get the swarf and filings off it. And another thing, I used the silvertop pickup pipe but not all the small Torx head screws line up on the blacktop sump, just two if I remember correctly but it works fine.

That's great! I've got the blacktop and silvertop pick up pipes here, so will use the blacktop one if all goes well! Thanks for your help!

There is webbing in the pan ( alloy part)that hits the caps , start there and see what's next
Try and keep as much of the baffle as you can as it is there to help
