S1 Heat issues original airbox/K&N cone
Just replaced the K&N cone that was on my S1 with an original airbox as the car is almost completely standard.
There seems to be a lot more heat under the bonnet with the original box back on, against when I have ran it with the K&N cone.
Is this normal - has anybody else had heat issues with an original ford airbox?
Power was definately down - still stupidly fast but not warp speed!
Fuel pump seems to be struggling to put enough fuel through now too - when I came to junctions I could hear the fuel pump at the back working harder (I can hear it as my parcel shelf, spare wheel and carpet are all out at the moment whilst I work on them)
Your opinions would be great.
Cheers,
Kieron

the problem is, your engine aint sucking the hot air in now its got the airbox back on, thats a good thing btw
get it set up if u feel its underfueling as i wldnt like to see you hole a piston when could of been saved for a Ł50ish set up

May well put the cone back on as it's obviously been set up previously to run with that on.
I don't really want to drill or cut the original airbox as the car is virtually mint. The airbox is one of 3 things not standard, the others being a bleed valve and a stainless exhaust.
I'll keep the box for when it comes time to sell....

the filter shouldn't make any difference to how the car idles etc. The metering unit is very sensitive, did you push the flap down at all or fiddle with it when you made the change?
I think you would be better off getting the cat setup properly mate. They can check all the fueling etc and if your fuel pump is tired they will be able to tell you
where abouts in the country are you?
