Rich are you into E30 M3's? have you seen the latest Total BMW mag? great article on them and VERY interesting reading about the timing chains. Turns out this 'you MUST change them at 100k' is a load of Bull...

Aye you could say that. I knew about this 100K thing a while back. It was started by a tuning firm in West Sussex (ML) a few years back. But basically throughout the whole of the world. We've only heard of 4 definite snapping instances. Im sure this article will mention the fact its a duplex chain so is stronger.

Great article... just swap to the e36 tensioner and it solves all the problems... the articel said they had never heard of a chain snapping at all. E36 uses same chain as well and that has alot more valves and gubbins to contend with.

E36 tensioner Ł55 +VAT
Timing chain change at 100K ~Ł2000 parts and labour (and its not even needed!)
