Will an ST170 engine/driveshaft take an RS Gearbox?
I've recently added an '02 ST170 to my Ford family, and it's ultimately destined to be stripped out and turned into a trackday car.
Simple enough; an ATB diff for the Getrag is pretty pricey, £700+, but an RS (MKI) gearbox (MTX) with an ATB and presumably 'sportier' ratios can be had for a lot less. And someone might even take my Getrag off me too.
Will it fit? I've read on here that the internal and drivetrain components of the ST170 are pretty different, and the Haynes manual that arrived today (4197, in a really rank colour) isn't going to be much help. 3 Fords and not a single Haynes manual was made for any of 'em.
