4x4 Cosworth head
Just posted some pictures of my head in the picture and video gallery and Frog kindly brought to my attention that the head looks thin, is this the case as I've just paid an engineer (with a lot of motorsport experience) quite a substantial wedge to overhaul it and was told it was within the tolerences
Easiest way is to measure it..

Dave, with all due respect, I have had a 2wd head with an engineer who is very well respected in the area. He told me our head would be fine, although it is below ford's stated tolerances (source = workshop manual)...
So who, do I believe, an engineer who does this kinda work day in day out, or a piece of paper written by someone at ford ?
I saw steviep's pictures and thought the brass bit looked exposed to save him a lot of hassle fitting a possibly unsuitable head.
Sorry for trying to be helpful, next time you're in trouble and I might possibly have the answer, Doris will stay Schtum, in fact, I wonder why I bother at all

Yours truly,
Doris
There's no need to diss Frog like that, he kindly pointed out that the head may have been skimmed beyond the tolerence level from his experience.
I put this post up to try and get a couple more opinions as I won't have chance to get back to the car to measure the head for another week or so and needed to know if I needed to try and find another head.
I've got quite limited Cosworth knowledge with this being my first one so appreciate any info that can be passed on to me.
As it happens, I hadn't really given it a second thought until it was mentioned as I just took the guys word for it as I had no reason to doubt him.
Though the advice may not have been 100% accurate it was still helpful for him to have mentioned it.
Cheers Frog and everyone else that answered

Hope you still enjoyed your dinner though
Get it measured to be 100% sure, as said above the brass indicator is not always accurate.
Good luck with the rebuild, let us know how you get on.
