Here I have my 1989 'G' Mk4 Escort 1.4 L 4 door,3 previous owners (the last owned it for many years & looked after/maintained to a very high standard).I have meet the chap & he told me all the work/history of the car which includes a engine & gearbox rebuild during his time owning it,he kept (which I still have) a little hand written notebook of all services etc he carried out (has his own garage).
I bought the Escort in August 2012 (i did want a Mk2 Fiesta but couldn't find one in my budget at the time).The mileage is about 130,000 but don't let this put you off as to look at the car you wouldn't think it's done that amount.

Engine-standard 1.4 CVH runs lovely,had a sevice in Jan 13 along with new dizzy cap/rota arm,had a new exhaust down pipe fitted Feb 13.
New battery fitted Jan 13.

Interior-I replaced the original door cards as these were damaged,fitted grey ones from a Orion GL (has the elec window grab handles,but windows are still manual).Now has the elec window grab handles but no switches fitted.
90 spec Recaros front & rear & RS 3 spoke steering wheel (if the car reaches a good price these will remain or I may remove & replace with standard items & reduce price of car).
RST centre console/i also cut down lengh of gear stick.
Slight mark on dash where a radio has been taken out in the past.
Rest of interior/trim very good & clean.
Everything works/has a tilt & slide sunroof again all works spot on.
I replaced the dash clocks as the fuel/temp gauges didnt work (i still have the original clocks).

Bodywork.

Paintwork very good,always shines up well (car has been garaged since August).Front arches have very very minor marks on lip,N/S/R arch has a slight bubble on surface,everywhere else looks solid,battery tray good (has been replaced at some point) good fuse box area.
Scuttle panel has been 'touched in' on passenger side by windscreen rubber.

New front headlights/amber indicators fitted in Feb 13.
All locks/doors/boot work fine.
Rear bumper has the trim strip missing,i have fitted black tape to sides & front.All glass is original & etched with reg number.

I have slightly modified the Escort with the following.

15" Mondeo spare steel wheels with 195/50/15 tyres (fitted Nov 12-tyres are very good).
Custom made sports exhaust by PipeCraft in Basildon/3.5" outward rolled tip (Sep 12).
35mm lowering springs (Oct 12).

M.o.t till June 13 / Tax till July 13.

The car drives great,always gets alot of attention etc.Be sad to see it go but I fancy a Mk2 Fiesta.

If you look up the current prices for MK4's in this condtion it is a good price. Regardless how much you can buy them for this is a nice little motor for either a workhorse or someone who wants a retro Escort.

I like this, shame i'm looking at moving abroad otherwise i'd have been tempted, keep it looking like this and rs turbo or zvh conversion. Getting rare now in this condition and worth every penny of that amount.

 

ive give a realistic price on a car ive just sold a stone mint mk4 silver 2 door estate rs turbo 90spec trim bumpers the lot took 850 for it got a mk3 5 door had mag feature mint got 2.0 mondeo 16v on 40s and 100bhp of nitrous rs1600i spoilers tax and tested £1,000 would buy it i know prices

 

whats wrong with someone asking what they want for there car?

everyone complains about the cars are cheap then when someone asks a decent price for a tidy looking car they complain about it. Why not leave the guy to see what he can get for the car, if at worst he ends up keeping hold of it, it looks like it would still be in good hands.

Car is now sold-thanks for the genuine interest.In response to the 'Its not worth that' comments,like anything it's worth what someone is prepared to pay plus ono or ovno invites offers,i priced it at what i did so in the event of being offered £1000 or there abouts then i would accept it & thats exactly what i did.
The buyer was very happy & has plans to improve the car.
