Default 2000 'W' Reg Mondeo ST200 - £400!

Hi All,

With regret, it’s time to sell my Mondeo ST200. I’ve owned the car about 2 years and in that time its been great and done eveything i’ve needed it to (which pretty much meant driving endless boring motorway miles for work!), has never failed to start and has never let me down.

I took it for the MOT a couple of weeks back and it unfortunately failed (more of that in a minute) and i’d been considering getting a 330D for a while and this was the trigger point to get one. So the ST is no longer being used and has to go. I did have ideas of keeping it and fixing it over time but i’ve come to the realisation that i’m just not going to get around to it due to the usual reasons, time and space (lack of both)

I’ll start with the good bits about the car;

2.5 v6
200BHP
Never failed to start and has been 100% reliable
96k (nothing on these old v6’s)
Few little under bonnet shiny covers
Got ALL the Ford books in the original folder
2 keys (the spare fob has literally never been used)
Good leather
Generally good bodywork
Gearbox and cluth good
Full (and i mean FULL) service history, 12 stamps as follows;

Miles; Date;
9884 - 4/7/2000
20049 - 21/12/2000
29916 - 27/06/01
39965 - 19/12/01
48300 - 12/09/03
54199 - 23/05/05
61231 - 02/02/06
67926 - 26/07/07
71092 - 25/01/08
74047 - 26/01/09
86311 - 27/03/12
92121 - 11/11/12

Shortly after i bought the car i put 2 front tyes on it and spent £700 getting it serviced and MOT’d including a bit of welding to the sill and a new front shock (£100!) and a few other bits and pieces.

Obviously with the failure on the MOT there is no current MOT and the tax ran out at the end of March. The failure points on the recent MOT are;

One rear tyre
Rear discs
Small patch of welding around one of the seatbelt anchors
Some random dust covers here and there
One bottom arm needs replacing
One rear shock needs replacing (misting)

I’m going from memory here as i gave the failure sheet to my brother to price up the parts and he left it at work!! But i’ll get it off him during the week and update things like some random dust covers here and there with some actual detail.

Here are some other general points of note;

Some rust on the rear arches (particularly on the drivers side)
Little dink on the front arch
Sometimes when you hit 4000 rpm it stutters a bit. I believe this to be the IMRC but could also be something as simple as the plugs (due for a change soon, dont need changing at every service)

Thats about it really. I do think with a weekends worth or for a couple of hundred sheets you could get this car through the MOT and back on the road. Or you could break it up for parts and make a few quid.

I’m pricing the car for what I feel the wheels are leather would probably about go for - £400. Like i said, fix and put it back on the road or break it up and make some cash, up to you PM me on here, or drop me a text - 07950801865.

I've been honest with you and i'd appreciate it you're honest and genuine with me. I'll happily answer any queries and all i ask is that you please do not waste my time.

Yeah it is cheap, plenty of room there for someone to get it back on the road and use it or make some dosh.

Based in hertford, sg14.

very cheap car, abit of shame to have all of those things need sorting at the same time, im sure you'd still keep it if that list was abit smaller

It needs a few bits and pieces sorting sure, but i feel like i've priced it accordingly. I've got another car now and don't have the space for 2 regardless, so unfortunately the ST has to go.

Bang on mate,why mess about?
It's a £400 mondeo,if the gearbox broke and the engine started knocking after a week or two youll still make a good drink on selling just the wheels interior and bumpers etc.

Great to see the car market start getting back to the good old days of phone up,meet up,pay up,enjoy.

Can't believe the number of idiots out there now that ask the most stupid questions.

Eg. it's a 1995 1.3 fiesta,punter asks "what emissions bracket is that in mate?"

It's a £200 car which states it needs work on the engine,no t&t etc ,punter " will this drive me 400 miles home?"

And the latest classic " I'd have that mate but your the other side of the country "
When said car is in Bristol and the buyer lives in Luton,about an hour and a half away!!!

That's why I put it on here and not ebay to be honest. Might have got a bit more on there but you always run the risk of being messed about. Plus I wasn't after trying to make money out of it, just wanted to sell it for a few beer tokens! The fact a member took and it as going to fix it up for his Mrs to have rather than pulling it apart straight away is pretty good too
