Default please look at this.

my car has been sounding like a Subaru when it came back from the mot, they turned the boost down without being able to explain it to me....when you drive it feels like its stuttering.
Anyway car engine sounds ok and car seems ok but when driving sounds like the exhaust is putting....checked all hoses and exhaust clamps but found this on my down pipe which wasnt there before it went for the mot...

would this be the cause of my car sounding and feeling like its stuttering when driving

I'm guessing that's the exhaust downpipe from underneath the car looking up?

That doesn't look fresh. If it is it wouldn't cause the stuttering, you'll find lots of RST's (Especially lowered ones) with a dent right there, a speedbump wound!

But, if it is fresh it could have jolted something else further up, potentially cracked the exhaust manifold/snapped a bolt.

Why did they turn the boost down at MOT?

That's been caught on the jacking ramp underneath they either haven't lowered jack down low enough left it up and drove off backwards without being let down properly or the cars real low like above cold of jilted something and cracked exhaust manifold or where it joins down pipe

Sounds like one cylinder is not firing at all if it sounds like a Subaru. Check they haven't knocked a lead loose under the bonnet. Were you present at the MOT or did you leave the car with them? I'd be concerned that they might have taken it for a "road test" as well as an MOT

This is why I hate taking my car for an MOT , I ALLLLWAYS stick around , found a new garage local to me that does MOT's for Ł25 as well

Nice as u like chap, little bit older as well so I know he want take the piss with the car

but from looking at the scrape it doesn't look new tbh

But why did he turn down the boost and how ? do u have a bleed valave or did he wind the actuator arm out ????

Or maybe they broke it and said they'd turned the boost down because it isn't boosting as it should any more.

^^^^ agree look's like as said before that the ramp jack has been raised into the down pipe, and have you asked why they turned the boost down? all sounds a bit suspect to me, bent the valve's in an xr2 once and it sounded like a Subaru.
