I remember seeing some plate which was something like.... B055 and it was up for nearly 100k!!!! Why?

upto 8-9 letters ,you dont even need numbers

 

The price can't be too high if someone is willing to pay it and I'm guessing someone will!!

 

Thing is you dont own it, your only buying the right to use it.

Its true, 7 letters and unless its already taken or very offensive there just £450 between you and nice personal plate. (Its valid for ten years)

I think 20K for the plate RS500 is a fair price to be honest, as has been said its literally the ultimate plate for a rs500, which in itself is quite a desirable car.

Im sure someone will cough up at some point.

Saynig that, I say an oldish looking git in a Laguna (I think) yesterday with the plate "B16 CAY" and he had smartly positioned a black number plate screw cap on the C to make it look like a G

You could use it as it's a dateless plate. If it was R5 SOO then you couldn't.

You can use it....

If the plate is indeed RS 500 then that is classed as a vintage dateless plate. My dad has YRK *** on his car, he used to have it on an old X reg Audi too.

If the plate is R5 SOO then you can't use it as it's the newer style plate (well new up to 2001 or whenever).

But RS 500 is fine on any car - the plate is totally dateless and not one of those cheapo A4 GRP jobbies.

 

Take a look at http://www.dvla-som.co.uk/home/en/Auction/p/next auction number 1226 - the reg is RSB 21, it will have come off a car from the 50's etc. You could put that on any car.....

 

if i had the money, i would pay 20k anyday for that plate.....

I bid on either that plate rs500 or 500rs when it came out on the dvla auction about 6-7years ago.

Got out bid, it went for about £5.8k play fees and vat

 

COS 500 is going for £12k
