Had my chipped T5 Estate for 3 years and never put a spanner on it Got some serious abuse too, however the downside is you will get to know all the people in your local petrol station on first name terms very quickly

Front tyres lasted about 9000 miles if I was lucky apart from that and its thirst it was a superb vehicle to drive

Averaged about 19 on a good day, and when you booted it hard the fuel computer showed it dropped to around 5. Actually I told a lie above, I remember now I did have to put a spanner on it once..... to change the fuel pump as it just died one day

Got rid of it with 198,000 miles on the clock just because the turbo blew, but it was at the point where it wanted alot more money spending on it to keep it alive so wasnt viable.

I'd have another tomorrow without a doubt

Sure I have seen him before yes Probabbly at the petrol station next to me. Mine looked exactly like that but without the stickers.... I was undercover

And the back wheels looked more like the car in the second one when it was permanently loaded up with 16 racing wheels, 4 jerry cans, a trolly jack and all my tools

I bought an 850R last June as found my M3 coupe too small for a second baby !
My wife uses it most of the time & she likes it, its so easy to drive being auto. iv'e not had any problems with it yet, just had 130k service which was Ł229, personally i would say that parts for it are probably as expensive as a BMW if not more, Mine runs as sweet as a nut at 130k, its quite a hard ride on uneven road surface due to 205/45/17 as standard. My insurance is quite cheap though (group 17) Ł286 f/c. Like the other guy said they are quite juicy, get anywhere from 230 to 320 miles to a tank, about 25 mpg or 28 on longer journeys. I'm well pleased with mine as its performance is quite good & they are so practical, brilliant if youv'e got kids & lug stuff about. Also got lots of toys, mine has, self leveling rear suspension, heated seats,3 position memory seats, cruise, aircon, tracs, elec roof, centre arm rest converts into kids booster seat, boot changer as standard & loads more.
I would deffo recommend one but try & get one with full volvo history, turbo's normally fail from 140k onwards.

the other good thing is you never see them about much,R model is quite rare.

Pic of mine.
