Default Part Resto my Moonstone 3dr cossie

I purchased this car in May 2012,I have backdated all the updates to the present day.

16th June 2012

Well I decided today would be a good day to get stuck into the grime under the car.Weather was awful so decided to have a little play.Got the front wheels off, cleaned up the arches and underside of the engine bay, nothing flash just lots of degreaser and wd40,the crap that came off was unreal. The konis were black.I polished the discs up a bit to,brushed down both wheel arches first of all,the dust that fell out was unreal.Put some wheels cleaner on the rear of the front wheels, cleaned up nicely. Finally took my k&n cone off for a clean, got to oil it once it's dried overnight,so should be nice and reddy brown then hopefully.
Anyway here's some pics.

Thanks.Lee.

Gave the sump,s/rack,arms,hoses a good de grease and wd40 them up.The rack and the subframe have a bit of surface rust,so gonna repaint them just to freshen them up a bit.I was amazed how much grime had built up under the car,got loads off, nice preperation now for a nice hot steaming and some tfr, degreaser etc to get all the horrid schultz off the floor, hopefully take it back to original factory sealer.

This afternoon felt a bit energetic and enthusiastic so I plodded on,off came the rear wheels.Cleaned up the wheel arch guards, they came up a treat and they are solid, the plastic has not disintegrated, brushed all the dust out of the arches first, good degrease,wd40,polished the discs and konis, got lots of grime off so I was well happy.
Moved to the underside then cleaned up the diff a bit and the centre section of the exhaust, coming along well. Finally washed and put some alloy wheel cleaner on the inside of the wheels, again they came up lovely, getting there slowly.
I have been all over the underside and I have to say it's as solid as a rock,I had a good poke around and couldn't see or feel any evidence of the dreaded rot,so that was a bonus. Will take another look once it's on a 4 poster when I visit Dp's for lots of work soon.

HERE'S A FEW PICS.

Thanks.Lee.

No pics today.cleaned all the plastics interior-dash,door panels, grab handles, kick plates and sill covers, plus sunvisors and sunroof blind...all I can say is what a mess they were in,visually looked ok.

It wasn't until I started cleaning with my soft scrubbing brush and my cleaning solution and a damp cloth I realised how hanging the plastics were, beleive it or not the dashboard was the worst, the suroof blind was a challenge to,looks much better now though.
I'm not even attempting the headlining as it will go sag city if I wet it for sure,at present it's all sag free,I remember doing my last 3dr was all fine until I started cleaning it up.
I think I will get the headlining out anyway and have it trimmed in a nice new material.

Thanks.Lee.

Plan is a full repaint and repaint underside of the bonnet.

New parts to be fitted.

1. Front and rear Ford badges.
2. Tailgate decal.
3. front grill seal
4. 500 splitter
5. 500 fog grills
6. paint bonnet catch or powder coat.
7. repaint my inside plastic jack cover.
8. fit new doors and tailgate strikers, gasgets and bolts,re align doors and tailgate.
9. fit front and rear bumper mouldings.
10. fit side mouldings.
11. Machine polish and strip headlamps down.
12. Clean and machine polish front fogs and indicators.
13. Powdercoat tanks,strut brace,cam cover,turbo heatsheild,strut top cups,bonnet stay arm etc etc
14.Paint or powedercoat fuel tank and strap.
15.Maybe having a new windscreen aswell possibly.

More added.
16. Driveshafts and fuel pump bracket for powdercoating.
17. Repair cracks in the dash as the windscreen will be out anyway.
18. Fit new Ford electric aerial.
19. Renew the headlining,it's not sagging or anything just a bit yellow in appearance, due to age I guess.I dare not clean it as I know exactly what will happen...sag city.

I think that's about it for now.

Thanks.Lee.
