Default Focus ST Boost Solenoid Valve

Evening each !

So driving the focus yesterday - gave it some beans in 4th gear , seemed to make a lot of noise with not a lot of go.... [no clutch slip, just felt boostless] , put it down to me imagining it ...,

Drove the car to work this morning , came onto stretch of dual carrigeway , planted it in 3rd , seemed to shit itself a bit "surging" with the boost gauge needle doing a nice dance ! ,

seemed ok coming home boosting into the red as per normal [DSCi map] , dropped the lad off I work with , and pulling away 1st and 2nd jus seems a little bit "lazy" coming on boost to what it did , and I could sware under light throttle in 6th gear whilst crusing it was whistling a little bit more than usual ...,

Intermittent at present so not **too** worried , but im led to belive the boost pressure solenoid valve [on side of turbo i think ???] is common as muck on them ,

which leads me to the question[s] - which is the best uprated one , and has anyone done one , what they like to change ??

Many thanks !

Rosco

Elevate, IPD and Pumaspeed do uprated versions mate. Ring pumaspeed and ask them as there was a group buy for one of theirs for £77.99 posted. Otherwise ring JW-Racing and ask for an Elevate one and see what price they can do but more expensive.

Will work fine mate just it is better getting an uprated item especially if running more boost for greater control and reliability. Standard one will work fine though.

Mite be worth just having a quick look around for boost leaks aswell, the metal boost hose that runs underneath between the sump and gearbox can sometimes crack.
