lol , i am thinking along the lines of cone filter in a made up box with a ram air type feed into the box as i think its better to have a mass of air rather than the bare filter .. i maybe wrong but thats why i ask lol

Standard air box can do over 500 bhp, plus looks tidier than a cone. I've an rs 500 box in mine.

There is a huge thread on here somewhere about airbox vs cone filter.
Personally I think the best way is how Ronnie has his setup which is how mine will be going, but you do need the new top feed style intercooler for it to work.

Suprised a little there Matt i thought you'd go for the original look , I changed mine back to an airbox and K&N panel filter and if anything sounds crisper and looks tidier imo.

Cone sounds best, but box looks tidier. I think it doesn't make big difference whether you use box or cone. If I'd still have box attachments in the inner wing, I'd probably use drilled box with a some sort of ram air pipe connected to the box... That way it could get as much air as possible and turbocharger's heat wouldn't affect the inlet air temperature.

I swap and change between big turbo escos airbox with kn panel filter or grp A kn cone filter
I think the airbox looks alot nicer but you can't beat the sound of chatter through the cone filter

I prefer mine over that tbh mate .. Not keen on that style box .. And plus with mine being a 3dr and completely solid and original nice paint under there I might aswell show it looks a lot tidier and cleaner .. Only cos breather as well tho because if it wasn't then it would look shit tbh.

thanks for the thoughts everyone , i like the way ronnie has his but would heavy rain not affect this ? the other thing is i already have a new rs500 style intercooler so its really a no go
i think i will use the cone filter with some kind of stainless steel cover to box it in and away from the heat too as said , i know some of you guys dont like the bling but sorry to say thats the way i am going to go , feel like a magpie lol

Didn't Martin run his filter thru the inner wing, at some point, on L00NEY?

This works well. The bonnet completes the box & you can see the airscoop to the front of the car also takes air from inner wing that is drilled for that purpose.
