Default 3door project

Hello all, New to this great site,

Anyway have been out of the ford scene for a long while now, previously had a couple of gls saphs and a 330 2wd saph cos,

My plan is to build a full 3door replica using engine, box, running gear etc from 2wd saph, based on an 83 xr4 shell, reason being I live in Ireland and import duty on anything under 30 is crazy. Before I comment to this just have a couple of questions, many thanks in advance.
Will i need to widen the tunnel? (if so i don't mind)
Is the cosworth shell stronger, Will i need to strengthen it? and does it have extra mounting points? Will everything bolt in?
Will finding back quarter windows rubbers be hard?
And of-course bumpers, tail, vented bonnet will they be hard source?
Thanks again

Parts aren't impossible to source, just expensive!

Best man to talk to is cossie4i+ as he owns an Xr with a cosworth engine fitted.

From experience, cheaper to buy one done already ,q reg or build from std car is cheapest...

Auto cars have the wider tunnel
Shell is the same otherwise bar different door lock mounts afaik....u

All mounts points the same

Kits are dear but available , consider f/glass

Might know someone with shell and all mech bits you need in the south...

Thanks lads for your reply's , It sounds like a goer so, an 1983 clean auto shell is what I need so, finding that in Ireland might be a struggle but don't mind travelling to UK for it, is their many about? , as for running gear, engine I have that sorted here.

The cossie t5 gearbox will fit it any sierra shell. It's only the 4x4 gearbox which you need to mod the tunnel for. Everything from a 2wd saff cos will fit straight onto a standard sierra shell so you will have no problems using a xr4i shell
