I've finally taken the plunge today and arranged for my 3dr Cosworth wheels to be refurbed by Pristine Wheels.
I want to stick some nice new rubber on them when they come back, but which ones???
In the past I've always stuck with the original tyre choice Dunlop, first D40's then SP2000's, but neither of them are available now and the choice is fairly limited in the 205/50 15 size.
I'd like to carry on in the same manner, but are there better tyres out there now?
Dunlop do the SP Sport 01 for about £80+ a corner, but i've read some poor reviews of those.
My local friendly tyre dealer has quoted me £89 a corner for Continental Premium Contact 2's which I'm pretty tempted by.
Uniroyal also do them in my size as do Toyo & Yokohama (although they're a bit dearer).
Anyone got any opinions???

You really can't beat Toyo R888's awesome grip in the dry and in the wet dispite what most people (which probably haven't driven on them) say.
But is it a concourse standard car? In which case 888's might be overkill.

Not concourse, but it's in pretty good nick. almost standard apart from a few minor bits and bobs. I think you're right, these might be a bit of overkill, but read good things about Toyo's. Just a bit wary of 'budget' brands as had some on my sierra estate some years back and they were bloody awful!
I had 2 d40s on the back and they are brilliant for burning up, and sliding. Useless for driving fast with. I agree t1r's, Just get some camber shims for the rear to help save the life of the rear toyos!

Yeah, that's exactly what I wanted to achieve. Have managed to source some SP01's for £79 a corner, so I'm probably gonna go for them
