Default Mk1 frs stuttering under full boost

Hi everyone

Just bought a mk1 focus rs

Under full boost in 4th at about 4000rpm it's just holding back and hesitating like the turbo is cutting in and out, can't get it to do it all the time tho

Any ideas?

Cheers Russ

does the boost drop when it does this ? could be a knackered actuator

It's the ECU, it's got the 4k stutter.

Nothing to worry about.

How is this resolved? With a remap?

more than likely you have an air leak or its ignition related
check all your hoses on back of inlet.
mines did this and it was leads so try borrow leads/plugs coilpack and see if it solves it

And if you just bought it - give it a full service regardless of the history. Then you know it's all been done. I'd be more dubious about garage service history than a private person with receipts for service items.

Has it got a Bluefin on it? I put some old rolling road graphs of my car on the RSOC (done before i bought it) and this had a dip at about 4500 RPM and Shep from Sabre suggested it was something to do with the Bluefin and said he had seen it on other Bluefin cars. A later graph with Bluefin removed showed the dip had disappeared.
Money and time permitting i'll be getting it to either Sabre in Bristol or Jamsport in Northampton for a remap at some point hopefully.
