R5 gt turbo?
Hey folks ive been after a certain renault 5 gt turbo local to me for quite a while but the owner wasnt interested in selling it so to cut a long story short i just bought it! h reg, grey, 28k miles from new with 3 original tyres still on the alloys and standard apart from a stainless exhaust! Whats peoples thoughts on these cars? ive been in 1 twice and loved it but whats other peoples thoughts on these cars? Will i be better to leave it totally original? the mileage is accurate as i have old mots etc and me and the the guy ive bought it off know the original owner as well!
Always loved the r5gtt, would still have one now.
If that is as genuine as you say then the sensible thing would be to make it immaculate and store it. If it see's the road it fall to bit like the rest of the or get bent round a tree like most of them.
If you want one to use by another example. So much fun....until they break, it will ofcourse break, they arent that reliable unless on fresh engine's, wiring etc.

I have a raider, which i have had for 5 or 6 years now, although it hasnt seen the light of day for a couple...I love them, one of them cars where you get everyone stopping to look, or striking up conversations about them. Seem to be getting rather rare now, cant remember the last time i seen one on the road. Very fun car to drive too, mine is pretty rough (Due to some prick using it as a step up when robbing the yard at our last lock up) but had a few quid spent on it by my pal who i Bought it off and it doesn't half shift.
From the way yours sounds i would leave it mostly standard, maybe do a few easily reversible mods to get a bit more power out of it if you want, but it seems the price of these is creeping up of late (well the last time i checked anyway)
Get some pictures up!!

Not a fan of these cars, pretty ugly interior. The dash is the worst i've ever seen in a car fullstop! not a big fan of the 'sports seats' they are pretty crap too.
Alloys were quite gash and i was never a big fan of the bodykit, i do however like the rear bumper........ I do actually respect them for what they are, and thats about it.

Tidy it up, lower it, clio turbines, scorpion exhaust, a dunp valve and an air filter, its its perfect in my opinion
Have had two (one being a raider) and last week i missed out on getting another raider. Defo a car for the future. And too much mods will only dampen their investment

if you want it to be worth money then dont modify it, keep it original and its value will keep on rising, nothing wrong with fitting a full stainless and SAFELY raising the boost to around 1bar on the t2 turbo.
check out my r5gtt thread on here if you want to see how far you can go with modding them etc, and im not finished yet
also if your after any bits then always try mike at gt turbo spares he has everything you will ever need

I know you can get the tires any more. The 195 section 13". They look amazing on clio turbines. I wouldn't do any thing that isn't reverse able. I'd love one.
My mate ran one as a Dailey for a while. Didn't seem to play up too much.

I think the plan is to just leave it totally standard and maybe increase the boost slightly! any idea how much boost they run standard? theres a stainless exhaust on it just now and the car comes with a brand new front bumper, spare back bumper, new graphics, brand new induction kit and other spares! I will start a thread on the car when i get a chance
yours at 230bhp will be mental fast lol
hmm i need a set of graphics
are you on facebook fella? got a very popular r5gtt group on there, also defo worth signing up to rtoc.org

they run 8-9psi as standard, you can raise it to a bar on the standard t2 turbo and it makes a very nice improvement
, whatever you do dont fall for any of the old tuner bs group a carbs etc. defo invest in some form of afr kit (aem was my choice) then tuning the carb is pretty straightforward, id defo give the carb a rebuild whilst its apart as well before raising the boost.
