Default 3 door and spec R strut brace

This week i got the above for the cossie from mt motorsport (thanks again, excellent service)

But it dont seem to fit 100% . If i sit one side where it should the other is around 5mm out and dont sit flat ???

What did you have to do to yours to fit it ? is it a case of trimming the insides of the rings untill they both sit flat?

Any help would be great

Is it an adjustable one? You may have to fit the mounting plates either side 1st, then adjust the centre bar until it's tight?

The shell may have flexed a bit , 5mm is not much I have heard of worse . Maybe jack the car up under the crossmember to take the weight off the top mounts?

I was always told to have the shell on stands and the shocks removed to fit a brace properly. That way there would be no stress or tension on the shell and it should retain the correct angles when tightened up. But I was taught by a guy with severe OCD so it may be overkill lol

Yes defo mate . Just jack it up under the crossmember and see if it fits on, if so drill it and bolt it and put it down.

Default strut brace

i just fitted a strut brace on my 3 door today and the fit was crap aswell .if i used the holes im supposed to the self tappers would be right in the side of the turret .i drilled new holes in strut brace .i then marked turrets and drilled turrets and fitted rivnuts in turrets and then fixxed brace with allen head bolts .im not real happy with fit it is an omp brace and the alluminium is all oxidised so im going to take off again and spray .

I have to fit my strut with the car in the air as it's out when flat on the ground, it's a pure pain in the ring as it should have been applied using rivnuts but i never did it so it's nut and bolt and takes ages to do
