Question power steering whine

hello

mondeo 2.0 tdci 139,000 miles

power steering has started to make a whine when turning at slow speeds and fluid is coming out of from the cap , its also very black

It shouldnt be black 1st off bud, and I have never heard that about damaging pump how do you think when car goes in for service they replace it.
What do you mean fluid is coming out of cap? It usually whines when fluid is low or blocked?air in system. First start car remove cap and slowly turn steering from lock to lock do this about 10 times (will bleed system) however if its black I would change fluid as something is wrong.

i only had car a few month runs perfect apart from this starting a few days ago

fluid has leaked on top of bottle where power steering fluid is only way it can get there is if it comes out of the top

ive cleaned it up a few times but after every journey there is more there

i never checked the fluid before this started but when i take cap off it looks very high up the bottle

Right looks like 2 issues;
1. Fluid has been topped up above max level
2. If its black it will need draining and replacing
also might be worth checking brake fluid also as can corrode over time decreasing braking efficiency

Did you have any luck with this? I seem to have the same kind of thing going on, replaced the steering pump and fluid is just sitting in the reservoir, took it for a drive down the street and got fluid coming out of the reservoir cap.

I found out by Googling the preblem, there is air getting into the system somewhere causing the bubbling and overlowing of the reservoir, did you find this and get it sorted?
