Default Diesel leak from somewhere

Good evening everybody, I am a new member here so I will introduce myself in the "introduce yourself" forum if it has one
I am new to fords due to owning numerous rover diesels, and decided it was time to upgrade the motor. Bought a mondeo 130 TDCI zetec with 125000 on the clock, and in excellent condition (loads of cool gadgets that I have never had on other cars!)
Here's the problem, after driving the car there is a small diesel leak coming from underneath the car, nothing major, but after a few hours there are a few drips of fuel on the floor. I have tried to locate it whilst the car was on jack stands but could not. I cleaned it up and had the engine running and there was nothing. It only seems to do when the engine is under load I.e while driving. I am hoping that it is a loose something or other and not leaking from the pump. There does not seem to be many answers on the net as I have googled it (that's his I found the forum) so I hope somebody can help me
Many thanks for taking the time to read this
James

Hi, I dont want to sound sarcastic but have you had a look underneath?
Most local tyre and exhaust plates would let you use the ramp for a few minutes possibly (to save you scrabbling about on the floor). Its probably a damaged fuel pipe or something like that hopefully.

Hope you get sorted mate.

Just had the same on my ford Transit and it turned out to be the fuel metering solenoid, its a common fault on the transit and i think they may share the same pump.

I have had it in jack stands, I do a lot of my own work on the car so invested in a few tools or the job! I did read about the transit situation on the Internet, how much did it cost you to fix? I am hoping its nothing less than Ł100 to sort it out I.e fuel line or something. Is there a common problem on the TDCI mondeo engine for leaks? I know it is not coming from the injectors as there dry. Not sure about the leak of pipes as they disappear down into the engine bay

Hi James, not good news if it is the same fault as mine as the solinoid is Ł288 but it is easy to fit.It fits in the middle of the fuel pipes on front of the pump.

Just got back in and was horrified!! Out my foot down because I stalled it ( not used to the clutch ) and the gauge went from quarter of a tank to nothing! Fuel light was on and the dash comp went from 150 miles till refill to 16!!! Got to a garage and put Ł20 in and now it is at half with 250+ miles to refill on the computer. Are these things actually accurate? Or is this something to do with the leak? Ł288 is better than Ł750+ for a fuel pump (if its leaking from there that is) any other info will be greatly appreciated. Going to have it back up on stands at the weekend
Many thanks
James

Will do spot1 are there any other places were it could possibly leak from? Like I said, the top of the engine is dry so it's not coming from the injectors themselves
Many thanks

Just had a thought, does the transit not have the Bosch vp30 or 37 pump? I recall reading about it somewhere. The mondeo has a "delphini" pump unless the later transits upgraded the pump?

Well, I have checked as much as I can and I still cannot find the leak, I am 70% sure it's coming from the fuel pump area, as that seems to be the wettest. But from what little I can see of the pump I can't see anything leaking from it specifically. I've dried it all up an revved the engine in neutral but it doesn't seem to reappear that way. All leak of pipes are good, fuel lines are good and the injectors are good ( touch wood ) I take it there are no common leaks on this model of engine? It's too cold to keep looking now so I have given up, been out there an hour patiently waiting to see a trickle or spray but nothing

Ate they plug and play? Or do they have to be re-coded to the engine? Can I do it my self or is it a garage job?
