hi fellas just got a black 4x4 sapphire cosworth shell and trying to find the correct paint code as its got green metallic in the sun but been told its just gloss black its on a j plate?

Under the bonnet you should have 2 tags, 1 for VIN and other for your Colour.
On the Colour Tag you should have one of the following numbers for Ebony Black..

Ebony black UB UB UB

Ebony black 4 /Z /N /UB /ZA /EA /A /A2 /A3 632 A (C) 9 AA

Ebony met. 7 2409 7 1

or it could be Smokestone Blue, but it should say that on your logbook,

ok thanks for that defo not blue though would i be right in saying its got green metallic so that would need laquer on top?

 

smokestone blue does look a little green depending on sunlight/sunset etc, but can also look black at night.
Or Mallard Green that was used on the Escort Cosworth which can look black in different lighting/sunset or at night.

Have you asked the person you bought the shell from to confirm the colour and if the Colour is OE it should be on the Colour tag and logbook mate.
OR take something off like petrol flap or bonnet vent, grill to get the colour matched by a good paint shop.
