Default Dohc to pinto

Hi I have a 92 sierra that's a dohc efi. Basically the dohc has past it's best and it only gonna go down hill it got low comp on piston no.3 and needs a timing chain change. And to top that off my mt75 box is whining and crunches into second.

What I want to know is can I drop in a efi pinto and run it on the dohc's wiring and ecu. Why pinto u ask? Well I want to do a pinto turbo conversion and have a pinto turbo manifold from few years ago and want to run a low boost setup for a while . So I can save for some low comp pistons.

Any help would be great . Thanks

It should do no problem seen as they had Pintos natively, I am not sure about the if the box will bolt up though, Pintos used type 9 but it should be possible.

The Pinto if EFI, used basic management though, opposed to 'EEC' of the DOHC, if it's carb it will be easy.

But obviously you can't just use your existing map, so you will need a remap at the very minimum.

The EFI Pinto used an air flow meter whereas the DOHC uses a MAP sensor so it will not be a straight swap. It may be possible to fit the sensors from the DOHC onto the Pinto but you'll need to check for things like the crank position sensor as I don't think the Pinto used one. Probably best to get an entire EFI Pinto setup and use that. Turbo Technics did a turbo kit for both the DOHC EFI and Pinto EFI.
