iirc Theres very little to no diffrance between them and the bit about people saying the phase 2 is stonger than the phase 1 is just a myth, there both weak and gutless engines.

personaly i found them to be quite reliable in standard form an i know of two 1.4's pushing 165 horse an been reliable on the rally stages the drive shafts have been the weakness but saying that i assume the rods pistons aint stock

They can't be that bad as they are very popular in rally cars, the bottom ends are known to let go but then thats due to bad maintenance!

Back to the question there are differences in the valve train, this is no difference in power etc.

thats what im trying to find out what the differances are an pick the best bits to make something half decent without paying silly money cos if it goes pop nip down the breakers yard an come home with another for under 200 notes thrash that till it breaks an so on

Like I say, none, there is a difference in the valves between the two, but that is to do with the design rather than strength.

Hi there, this is slightly off topic, but I wondered if you zetec has power steering - it’s just that I have a Fiesta 3.5 with power steering and having problems locating a spare steering nuckle and wondered if the zetec might have an interchangeable nuckle with the 3.5 fiesta. Thanks
