Is this Tyre Legal?
Was changing a rear tyre on my corsa, so I checked them all and the front one which is badly warn on the inside (came from front driver side), ive swapped with the spare (good tread), but now ive got 2 tyres, one which has a pretty cracked sidewall, even though it holds air fine, but it only has about 1.9 to 2mm of tread. Whereas the tyre which is badly warn on the inside has about 5mm of tread everywhere else!
I should be able to get another one tomorrow but whats best to use in the mean time?
Badly warn outside but good tread?
Or tatty but legal tread?

The tyre must have at least 1.6mm across the middle 3/4 of the tyre's width, so if it's for example 145mm wide then a section of 108mm along the middle needs to have legal tread. If the worn section has canvas showing then it's illegal.
I would say by looking at it that it's borderline legal, however you need to get the tape measure out, but just by looking at it I certainly wouldn't want to drive on it especially with the heavy snow that is forecast tomorrow for the most of the country!

Good choice though I would change this one too as cracking is a sign of age so the rubber is probably shit by now. Get them replaced, stick them on the front and get the tracking done in one go otherwise you will go through another tyre VERY quickly!
