Default My S2 Zetec Turbo Frozen White Project

Hi, been on here a few years now and been doing my escort also for a good few years. Quick background on the car; bought it cheap enough off a mates brother who had it sitting on his drive and never got used, got it running and taxed/mot'd and got it on the road, had it set up at power engineering which made about 160bhp and about 180lbft but with a slightly rattly bottom end and only 88psi on 1 cylinder. Decided to take the engine out and rebuild it. One thing led to another and before I knew it the car was a bare shell in need of welding in all the usual places, full respray and I had decided to go down the zetec turbo route. Only have 1 pic of it before it came off the road but have plenty others. I'll start adding pics when I get home.

Cheers.

Alex

Got this engine off xr2wishy off here. Bought the engine, turbo, ex.manifold and downpipe so havnt got too much to do to it to get it running in my car. Was cheaper than building one which was my original plan.
Hope xr2wishy doesn't mind but this was how it looked in his bay.

I know wishy and have been by his car a couple of times including at a local show, wish I had that engine

I'm currently building a zt, to a lesser spec though.

Cheers mate I've been doing it for ages now, just wish I took more pics to start with and of the rot but just started work without taking pics. It's xr2wishy's engine I'm just changing the inlet and management.
Quick spec:
Wiseco pistons 8.5:1 comp
Eagle rods
Area six head
Modified 200sx ex.manifold
Gt3071r turbo.

Going to be adding one of crazycage's ZT inlet manifolds.

Alex.

Saving up for full body respray and to get cracking with the underside now that all the welding is done then I'll start putting it all back together. Have so many parts I've been collecting over time I'll get some pics up of some bits

Few pics of spare engine and frs box test fitted. Ignore the patches of paint I told my mate to mark off holes that need smoothing.....so he spayed over them with paint
The top gearbox mount that crazycage supplied has slightly different mounts welded to the car as I used his ones to make the rear mount.

Gearbox rear mount test fitted before further grinding to neaten it up a bit. Also poly bushed.

Thanks mate I can't take credit for all work on the shell though my mates cousin is a great welder and the shell wouldn't be where it's at without him.

looks like a healthy project, nice to see the car to home my old power plant
it will suit an escort far better than a mk2 fiesta, chunky soft tyres and a couple of BAR and you'll be off and not a lot will catch you on the move.

Lol I have a spit but just tipped it on its side as it was having welding done shortly after that. Just wanted to clean off the underside so I could see what I had to deal with up close underneath.

with one of crazycages inlet manifolds you will easily breeze past 400 bhp with the spec you.ve got there thats if you want that much, don't forget to put a 3 inch downpipe on your shopping list if you've not got one already

Hopefully pal. Yeah I've got a nice downpipe already made that xr2wishy had on his car. Just need to get the rest to match. I'll have to get some pics up of the downpipe to. Thanks.

done, 3" mandrel formed bends made from 316 stainless, no problems with flow there.
i should have sold him my car and then he could have moved the lot over and sold off the spares lol!

Few more pics

Hole for rod shift welded up just need to drill holes for gear selector.

Few holes in engine bay welded up just needs some filler to smooth off.

And primered over to keep the moisture off

Couple of pics of the spare wheel welded up from underneath with some supports welded in place

Picked up a front strut brace. Going to be painted up fresh.

Dug out my tailgate to give it a clean up, got it off Twins ages ago and it's been sitting in my garage ever since. Minty mint.

Need to drill the holes to fit the spoiler to it. Also going to smooth over the rear wiper hole.

Also found a pic of my turbo from the day I picked it up with the engine

Just a small update as its been nice weather over the weekend. Stripped off what was keeping the shell rolling off the front end. Need to do the rear then the shell can go onto the spit for the underside paint.
Also test fitted my safety devices 6point bolt in cage.

Gave my gearbox a lick of paint

Picked up some Comps FR's. going to get these powdercoated in either graphite grey or satin black.

Nice car mate. I see you have dynalites on your front. What size of brake discs do you have and what is the offset of the wheels? As i am having some troubles with fitting cossy 278mm discs with dynalite calipers in 15" rims.

Thanks.
