Ford Courier Van
I have a 2002 ford fiesta Courier Van 1.8 Turbo diesel eur. engine A week ago I parked in my drive after using it all day when it was running fine. Next morning it just turned over but wouldn't fire. Glow plug light in dash was flashing. Connected test bulb to glow plugs to check relay works OK. Next checked glow plugs. All four not working (very strange for all 4 not to be working). Replaced all four engine started first time and glow plug wasnt flashing. I left the van running for some 30 minutes then turned it off. The following morning it would not start again and glow plug light flashing. The symptoms are the engine fires but wont run on and power steering electric motor by the radiator runs on for about 30 seconds. Left the van in disgust for 2 days and attempted to restart. On the first occasion no flashing glow plug light and van started and I ended up using it all day with no trouble. Next day when I tried to start it again the van experienced the previous problem - engine fires but wont run on, power steering electric motor runs on! Took the EGR valve off and checked it was opening OK and cleaned it.
Has anyone had this problem or any idea what could be wrong. Diagnostics said pump but dont believe that as after the diagnostic test the engine ran all day. Any ideas to point me in the right direction would be gratefully received.
