Puma 1.6 ECU question
I've just bought a 2001 Puma 1.6 with a knackered engine ECU. The fault is that it's not switching the 1&4 side of the coil. Checked the wiring back to the ECU and all is well. So I need an ECU.
My question is this;
As the car has a three button remote central locking, do I need to get the key etc with a secondhand ECU or can I just get away with the ECU (and any reprogramming)?
I've bought it to give to my brother and want to fix as cheap as possible - a local breaker has one on a runner for £25.
Thanks in anticipation for any help.

Thanks for the quick reply!
So the three button fob has a chip in it? Is it a transponder chip (ie; picked up by a "proximity" sensor when the key is in the barrel)?
How will that effect the remote central locking?
Sorry for being a muppet, but Mercs are my thing (especially ones from the sixties through to the nineties - proper Mercs).
