Hi guys I have just bought a bmw 530d e39 auto sport and was going to remapp it then heard the gearbox has isent that strong have any body on here had some experiences that you want to share/advise on the other note brilliant cars absolutley love it only had it 4 weeks very well built will add pics later thanks in advance?

if its an auto you should be fine you have to be a bit more careful with a manual!
DMS automotive are supposed to be one of the best for the German cars BUT MSD in Blackpool who inverted the evolution chips are up there too. (I chose them for my fiesta!).
The BMW straight 6 diesel can when remapped develop more than enough torque to shorten the life of the standard gearbox! Therefore the car should be mapped with this in mind! Or upgrade the the gearbox too!
my 330d is no slouch my I have been in a couple of remapped BMW's and they were VERY quick!

Nowt to do with the car above but my mate has a 320d in his garage where he works with a knackered gearbox. It keeps popping out of 1st.Bmw only sell the gearbox complete.Im sure he said it was 2.5k for a new box.
this is the reason you need to find a BMW specialist breaker!

For the price of bm.s theu wanna be a good car.
The came lad who told me about the gear box also had a 1series bm in with them xenon lights.A head light had blown. It cause 75 quid for a bulb.It still didnt work.He found out there is a control unit for the bulbs which nack up.It cost just short of 300 quid for that.

I've heard mixed reviews of dms and heard they are also quite pricey not personally checked myself though.
emaps are good from feedback I've read so far, for around 300 they come to your home or place of work and remap the car for you.
Another is ecotune who I've heard good things about, I've yet to get mine done but will more than likely pick one of those two.
