Default Mk5 Zetec-S , Slow project

Hello everyone on PassionFord.....

I thought id start my own project thread on here, its gonna be a slow build as im currently out of work ( looking for new job obviously ) ... And here we are.

My Mk5, Phase 2 Fiesta Zetec-S , pretty happy with it, served me well for over 1500 miles already ! ... not a problem.

When i bought it, it was completely standard, no cut outs for 6x9's or air filters, only thing thats been 'upgraded' are some Toyo tyres.. and now iv fitted an iPod compatible stereo and got myself a sound system.

***I'll update this thread as i go along, progress might be slow, but ill get things done in the end

******If you see me following/being followed by a pink/red saxo in the hertfordshire areas ... dont drive fast because the saxo will just be a gaylord and try to race you even if your in a scooby or something... dont know what goes through his mind, but you'll notice me driving sensible... ECO MODE!!!! lool.... but yeah, hes my pal, but for some reason he cant drive slow,.. fuck knows how he passed his test!!! lol....... just thought id let some of u know in case i get spotted

105k on the clock now
MoT til September
11 Mths tax
NO rust on the arches
best of all..... its Blue ... best colour for the Zs In my opinion.... !!

**I plan on doing some bits to it in the future when monies are available again...**

*Rs Turbo Recaros _+( mk3.5 fiesta 'tophats' ?.. and subframes? )
*Yellow foglights... i think it looks radical dude lol....''Marmite' i think describes them. Love it or Hate it.
*Eventually puma it, and get it all polybushed etc... so it handles nicer not sure about lowering as i cant leave my road without going over speedbumps. left or right iv got em

Here it is the day i got it home

Parked next to my mates red thing lol..

Sound system turned up...so i had to get it all out of the box to have a browse... i felt like i was 7 on christmas day.

Consisted of..

* Audibahn 1400w 'chrome-flame' sub.. thats what i call it anyway lol...
* In-phase door + rear speakers.
* In-phase Amplifier
* JVC iPod stereo

Came in at just over £200.. so wasnt bad for a quick little bit of bass....
then i realised something.....

.....Dumb moment, didnt get a wiring kit ..lol.. so im now in need of one of those before i can have some bassssss...

And a couple pictures from yesterday when i got bored, and went out for a drive. as i wasnt doing anything special..

Just need to get myself some decent cleaning/polishing products... what sort of things are best to bring out the metallic shine ? eg Meguars /turtle wax ...etc etc ??

Thanks for looking....

All comments welcome

Cheers fella

Small update, nothing major yet....

Had a bit of a moment the other day./ yesterday i think.....

Parked up at a mates house for 10mins...went outside and this was there to greet me.

F***ing potholes!!!!! had a little look at the rim, and its got a slight flat spot..... wasnt happy.. they can be fixed though cant they ? if its not too bad i mean.....

so.... out came the (very dusty ) spare.....after about 20mins of trying to work out how to get the spare from under the back... lol

Also took the front grille out to paint it,,, one of the clips has broken so it looks like ill be buying a nice fresh one, or just use cable ties for now

Did these come standard with clear side repeaters? ....not keen on them, so was thinking of buying an amber set.....

Need to do something about the brakes too as the steering wheel wobbles a bit when braking hard.... need wheels balancing etc too..... but was thinking of getting some new discs+pads if theyre not too wallet busting as im on a tight budget atm......

Any reccommendations of what brakes are best ?

Thanks

c+c welcome

Should have Amber's.

The wheels are very soft so wouldn't be surprised if there buckled sadly.

And the clips always break on the grills. Just tie it back.

Going to the scrapyard in next couple of days to get some ambers and hopefully a slatted grille from a 1.25/1.4 mk5, rather than the diamond shapes in the zs one...

I think the wheel is buggered tbh mate, i dont really want it back on my car either.... its not even that bad, i just wouldnt feel safe

Can get an alloy off ebay for 30-40 £ anyway so not too wallet busting

Pretty sure a lot of people use mondeo V6 brakes on therer as a low cost upgrade, no idea how big a job it is though sorry.

No worries, cheeRs for the info Greg

Someone on zsoc got new discs + pads for £40 i read..

Plus i need to fit my new bits first... waiting til iv got a grille before i replace the parts.

As you all probably know, i had a little accident yesterday afternoon....

But today..... I went to collect my new bonnet from buckinghamshire, i told him id crashed and was needing the bonnet...he says 'didnt you say you needed a front light?' ..i said..'Yeah mate, i need 2'.. lol..... He happened to have 2 nice headlights there too!......Paid him the grand total of £35 ... and he even chucked in a pass. rear light as my bulb is gone lol.. Free... cant complain!... Was a sound guy too, had a little chat with him and his Mrs..... lol

Anyway.....Nuff waffling from me, heres the pics ,, didnt get one of the bonnet though,, will get one tomorrow or whenever i get my grille !

Anyone tell me if changing this is an easy/hard -cheap/expensive job to do ? ...Engine mount has sheered off completely.

....went to take one of my bonnet, and had forgot my battery was dead on my phone haha.... heres the lights

Hoping to get to a scrapyard in the next few days if they're open. Get myself a slatted grille from a 1.25/1.4 mk5 fez..... then ill set about fitting the new parts.. Wings are spot-welded arnt they? ..not near my car so cant check lol.....

Crashed yesterday..... Bought replacement parts today. Not too bad .

.

I came down a hill at about 10mph , if that, got on the brakes but the road was too slippery and being a hill, i slid into someones garden and into their garage

Insurance is paying for it so should be ok.

Could have been worse yeah, im honestly suprised at how little damage there actually is to the car, just panels, -wings, bumper, bonnet lights grille done.... lol... ( apart from the engine mount obviously ) lol.....

The engine mount is fairly straight forward to replace. You need to support the engine with a jack or something and then unbolt from engine and body and replace. Nice little project, will be following with interest.

I'll bear that in mind when i need my wings painted.... although someone has now informed me theres a blue zs in a scrapyard in uxbridge, so might have to go check that out at some point for some bits... might be a different shade of blue too.. but better than what iv got now.. lol

And no worries nathan, iv messaged u on facebook about the mini, had a pretty hectic last couple of days as u may have guessed lol.... but il get on it tomorrow at about 11/12 bro.

I think the green wheels look pretty good, the red ones are growing on me...but i went into halfords yesterday...and theres SOOO many colours i could pick haha!!

Got a little update today

Insurance are paying for it mate luckily...

Got my bonnet on today,,, just need to fit the lights and engine mount,. should get done tomorrow

Was a quick stop at asda watford, because i dont do work on my car near my house... lol

Then came home to find my mum taking delivery of her new ( old ) mini cooper 1.3i so while the wheels were being swapped over, i grabbed a minilite, and now i am in love with minilites.

Even with the damage, my car happily sat there for an hour idling, while we swapped the mini wheels over

Should have the engine mount and front lights on tomorrow, so gettin there...slowly!

rear axles are peaunuts on these and easy to fit so its no real biggy, in future in bad weather suggest you drive way more slowly and with a lot more care
