hey guys. i have a mk2 mondeo 2001 1.8 zetec 16v. is there any mods i can do without spending? mods incl increased mpg as its around half what i used in mi van, also a tweak in power if these are possible without spending?? also ive found on tickover the idle is at 1000rpm rather than usual 750?? or is this a ford thing? lol. thank you in advance guys

 

The only thing you can do for free is to strip any weight out, that will help both MPG and Performance, otherwise I am afraid you are going to have to spend - no such thing as free power I'm afraid.

 

As above, you don't get something for nothing I'm afraid. If you decide to spend don't tune the 1.8 just drop a 2litre in. My brother spent a fair wedge getting his 1.8 GTi up to 150bhp

But not to anything worth the bother. 2 litre cams Rs1800 MAF, HO inlet manifold brings you to the RS1800 spec which is claimed to be 130PS in reality it was far nearer 120bhp.

 

The 1.8 Zetec is already at 115-120 anyways so what the point in the cams, maf and inlet etc ?
