Default retro or modern???

right looks like i will get a new daily this year (well 2013 )....little one is going from a size 0 seat to a bigger one to be placed in and out of, and this will be easier from a 5 door so one RS will probably go.

which one to keep

i have an escort rs turbo (owned 6 months, not used yet), tidy, plenty of scope for a project

pro's: retro RS looks, less to insure (classic), one of my favourite RS's, will appreciate
cons: drives like a 1980's escort, might be a money pit, might not be reliable

i also own a focus RS (nearly 5 years) dont think it will sell as it has done 120k and needs some tidying up

pro's: modern reliabilty, drives 100%, rare, fast, good for track
cons: owned for 5 years, once a daily, will it feel special? insurance is more (no classic)

i have one space in the garage, half of me is saying get rid of the focus, had it long enough, other part of me is saying get rid of the escort, leave it as a memory......

If the price is right then the miles and paintwork shouldn't matter toouch on the rs,wouldn't concern me anyway.
Where do you see it as pricewise?
Rs turbo are a great little car and fun to drive, have a nice presence and IMO would make a great weekend motor just to take for spin abouts etc.
Make it efi for more reliability as its gonna be standing about a lot and if the steering is a pain you can get a corsa electric steering rack and a very good welding shop to fab it up to the existing escort rack, there's been a few done over the years.

Or put 60psi in the tyres like I used to on the old fiesta diesels !!!!

Really it's up to you entirely.

would either become the weekend car or either be the daily?

If daily then Focus, if weekend toy, I think the S2.

My last S1 was great, but never wanted to leave it anywhere, got unwanted attention from saxo boys and police and would have hated to have it as my daily as you always had a nagging feeling it wouldnt get you home lol!! But was a buzz to take out on a nice sunny day, had a CTR at the same time which did everything but just didnt feel the same.

I sold the S1 though as it bugged me not really using it as nice sunny days seemed to be few and far between.

If you keep the S2 it will probably owe you more than the focus in a year, plus it dosnt have ac of power steering

I'd keep the rs turbo, but invest a little money in modernising it a touch (or hunting down rust), but its up to you.

Tough decision, I had a similar one with escort turbo and frs. Frs won after a lot of consideration. The escort, i went out on my own to shows, etc. (and felt a bit guitly!), the frs I can have them both with me and the mrs is enthusiastic about it.

Good luck with it mate...
