Needs new piston rings, which you can't get anywhere, so £950 for a scrap engine?

 

My thoughts too, £950 seems a bit steep for a dud engine!

burton sell pistons and rings for these! I boughtengine with intention of rebuilding and putting in my focus but change of plans as grove took too long so i'm now BOAing my sapph!

 

They sell pistons and rings for over £300, much more than a set of rings cost which you claim this needs, but aren't actually available. Only thing worth any money on that engine I'd the rods, exhaust valves, and valve springs

 

its a £300 engine if the rings are gone

rings+ bearings gaskets and bolts and timing belt kit and water pump make it more expensive than buying a perfect working order unit which can be had for around the same price.....

 

There is a complete 'good' engine on the RSOC forum for a grand.......

 

How do you know that the rings have gone?

If it is what you say it is I would pay £300 as I'm after a engine to build for my sons focus and like everyone has stated you can get engines from £800 upwards in great condition

not to piss on your parade, but there is nothing special about the flywheel.
i bought a brand new 2.0 flywheel with brand new motorcraft clutch for £50 delivered last year.
plenty around still.
