My Friends 500+bhp 1999 Audi S3
Really, I was always under the impression it was not the best. Does it deal with launches etc?
How much cash went into the engine to get that kind of power?
Interested to know as these are a bargain at the moment

500bhp and still running a maf? And a tiny weenie halfords air filter behind the battery ?
Was under the impression most go maf less above 350 bhp and almost all big power cars run direct cold air feeds to the filter and fuck the battery of to the boot.
Looks tidy mind. My little ibiza is Anough to shit up a std evo amd that's only 210-220 ish bhp

Just asked Andrew some things
launches are fine but its kill the clutches fast
Engine cost about Ł7k and was built by Andrew
Yes you can run over 500 with a maf as long as you ditch the S3 one and fit a massive one from a RS4 and calibrate it in the mapping. Also he said thats not a Halfords air filter its a Blitz filter from a RX7. Cold air feed will be made up later.

Went for a spin in it today
My god that think shifts. Went on to a "closed" motorway doing 70 mph he said "are you ready" I said "yes" and then the next thing i know we are doing 140 mph and still pulling really strong. He did one run and it went off the clock !! ( 170 mph clock speed ).
He also put it up agents a local R8 and it lost, Andrew said he knows the guy and he keeps trying to race him with little success

Andrew did some major damage to the engine recently after a cam shaft snapping

But its on the mend now with even more modifications
Andrew was maxing out the 870cc fuel injectors at 94% so he is putting 1600cc ones in

Another large port AEB head was found and ported by Andrew and flow tested after

When stripped the oil pump gear bolt had worked it was loose even with the Audi torque spec and loctite 641 bearing fit ( super strong ) so he welded it in place as well as the triger wheel bolts

He also made a baffled sump after worrying about the g forces this car makes

Andrew made a custom breather system

Another problem Andrew found is the flywheel bolts are a weak spot so its been double doweled and ARP bolts fitted

A new block thats been bored out fitted with race bearing and more ARP bolts

Engine built and ready to be fitted

It is Andrew's, He's don't doing that much for RS2000 now buts is doing loads of stuff for S3/TT's 1.8T engines, Loads of stuff for old school Fiestas and loads of other makes and models now. He does loads of head work now also, He borrows a flow bench to help develop his work and is trying to get his own.
