Renault 25 V6 Turbo
What have I done...
Got a call from a mate that has a Renault salvage yard saying he had an 80's barge come in, 25 V6 Turbo, and if I wanted it for shits and giggles...I said yes...
Never seen one up close but inside it's ace!
Proper 80's dash wich looks like it belongs in the millenium falcon and extremely comfortable seats with nice black leather.
It is totally original inside and out, engine has not been messed with and has a new turbo but it has been sitting idle for 6 or 7 years.
Body isn't that good though not rotten, windshield needs changing but a brand new one's supplied with the car!
So, who has any experience with these things? From what I can gather it's proper old school turbo: wait for it...wait some more...and then: WHOOSH and wheelspin and/or understeer lol

I was a massive Renault 21 turbo fan when I was young and had a navy blue k reg one! Loved it and it never missed a beat lol still have a soft spot for them now
only thing that put me off them was going out in a mates dads 400bhp cosworth lol

It's fucking ugly allright but that's part of the fun!
Proper eighties barge but it's big, practical because of it and the interior is proper sumptuous!
Engine bay is ace: all original and a complete mess of wires, ducts, and whatever else lol
I love it!
Pity it's blue, would be really really cool if it was black with black windows...!

christ,they bring back memories
my old man had two of them.. the first one was a 2.0 i think but his second was a 3.0 v6 auto. the one thing that i remember was how the boot closes, you didnt slam it shut you just put it down and it pulled itself shut.i thought that was a clever feature back in the day...until one day i found my dad with his thumb stuck in the closed boot and the keys in the ignition, been there hours

you buying this 25T reminds me of gettin a shitroen XM 2.1 Turbo,
got the car for free, fitted a bailey dump valve as it was given to me, kicked the backbox off, fitted a bleed valve and smashed the cunt out of it, well all of my mates did!
i drove it everywhere in 4x4 jacked up mode or slammed lowrider styleeee and see how far it bounced
wasnt fast but scared a few hot hatches when we launched it on the rev limmiter in 2nd gear
i hope you will treat the 25 with the same lack of french shit respect it deserves lol

It is an auto?
from Wiki
The Renault 25's least durable part was the automatic transmission. As a result, most of the 25's in service today are the 5-speed manual because only a few autos have survived. Three automatic transmissions were used on R25: MJ3, 4141, both 3-speed, and a new 4-speed AR4, later used on Safrane as AD4/AD8. The transmission itself was not that bad, but the poor quality and design of the ATF cooler, however, especially on the later AR4, resulted in this version gaining the title of possibly the worst automatic transmission ever designed. A leaking ATF cooler meant quick transmission death with little or no physical warning, except for ATF stains beneath the vehicle to which not all drivers paid attention or not quickly enough. The results were disastrous. The first transmissions started failing within a few years, that is, while the model was still in production. Renault then prepared a package that was to replace the original poor-quality cooler regardless of vehicle age and mileage. However, the fatal cooler location in front of the right wheel could not be changed. This is the reason why it is extremely difficult, if indeed possible, to find a Renault 25 Automatic with the AR4 transmission today
