To do it in 1 mile would require 350bhp more than reaching 285mph.

I dont know but my maths say circa 1950bhp to hit 285mph & 2300 to hit 300 in the same distance . Its all about Power. Red Victor is road legal has 3500bhp & hits those speeds in 1/4mile.

 

not even close his fastest run ever which is still the record to beat is
